myCharge HubMax 10050mAh review
myCharge’s HubMax 10050mAh is a medium capacity power bank with a small, compact design. What sets it apart from other portable chargers, is the fact that it comes with built-in charging cables and with foldable wall socket prongs. This combination is not at all common among power banks in general, but it can be a great solution for someone that just doesn’t want to bother with extra cables and wall chargers.
Charging technology
With a capacity of 10050mAh, myCharge HubMax comes bundled with built-in folding wall prongs, allowing it to power up without needing a charger cable. Instead, it can act as a wall adapter by simply plugging it into an AC outlet. When it’s empty, it takes 4.6 hours to recharge the myCharge battery pack.
The HubMax also comes with two built-in cables: an Apple iPhone Lightning connector and a USB Type C connector. They are compatible with smartphones and tablets from a wide range of manufacturers, including Apple and Samsung. The charger also features a USB-Type A port in case you need to plug in a different type of connector, such as a micro USB.
It also provides simultaneously charging for three devices. The downside of this is that it has a shared maximum output of 3.4A, which will cause it to take longer to refresh batteries in connected smartphones/tablets.
The MaxHub supports Qualcomm Quick Charge (USB-C cable) and Power Delivery (Lightning cable), ensuring your devices are charged up to 50% faster. An added bonus is that the power bank allows pass-through charging, so you can charge your external battery pack and any devices at the same time.
The iPhone Apple Lightning cable is compatible with the following Apple devices:
Smartphone: iPhone11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, XR, XS, XS Max, M, 8, 8 Plus, 7, 7 Plus, SE, 6S, 6S Plus, 5S. 5C, 5
Tablets: iPad (all 3rd to 7th gen), Air, Air 3rd gen, Air 2, Mini (from 1st to 5th gen)
Music Players: iPod Nano 7th gen, Touch 5th to 7th gen
Other: Airpod
The USB Type-C cable supports Samsung products such as the S10, S9, S8, and Note. It’s also compatible with Huawei, HTC, LG, Google Pixel, Nokia, Asus, and many more Android smartphones that use USB-C.
You won’t have to worry about the power bank running out of juice too quickly, either. It can provide up to four full charges for the iPhone X, three for the Samsung Galaxy S9 and one for the iPad Pro.
Portability
HubMax is a lightweight device, measuring 4.6” tall, 2.8” wide and 0.9” thick, the device is very compact and small enough to fit into your palm. Weighing at just 1.19lbs, the device is easy to carry around, so you can take it with you anywhere you’d like to go, even if it’s for a vacation. Standing on its own, it’s very similar in shape and size to a deck of cards and can easily fit into a backpack.
It’s also pretty safe to take on a flight, even on an international expedition. The power bank’s 27.2Wh is below the 100Wh limit set by the TSA.
This external battery source may be more compact and portable than other devices, but at the same time, it’s a bit heavier than previous models and other myCharge battery packs. The weight of HubMax is accommodated for its small size. With its input voltage rating of 110 – 240VAC, it can be used on any wall outlet in the world.
Look and feel
MyCharge’s HubMax is a sleek and stylish power bank that takes advantage of the silver color, giving it an appealing appearance. It comes with an anodized aluminum body and LED battery-power indicator lights that have a white glow at the top. To top it off, the corners are well-rounded, giving it support for an aesthetically-pleasing design. It only comes in silver.
Everything on this power bank is built-in, including the folding wall prongs, USB-C and Lightning cables (MFI certified), which are three inches long and stored in the side. They’re fairly easy to access too. You can pull them out of their slot by using the tab located on the connector joint. The USB-A port is located on the bottom of the battery pack.
All the materials were manufactured in Michigan. Designed with top-notch quality and premium materials, the power bank was built with durability in mind.
Durability & build quality
With its aluminum-made shell, the HubMax is tough enough to withstand any accidental drops that may result in damages. The build material gives it enhanced protection and makes it sturdy.
The HubMax has been built with cell safety protection. This means there is an electronic circuit integrated into the battery cell, which prevents overcharging, short circuits, and overheating. Battery power is kept consistent for one year, so you won’t have to worry about degradation over time.
If your battery becomes damaged or defective, the one-year manufacturer warranty will help to cover the device. However, it only applies if your HubMax has been registered on the companies website.
