myCharge Adventureplus Portable Charger Review
The myCharge AdventurePlus Portable Charger is a compact, lightweight power bank that’s designed to be as rugged as possible. It has a rugged, rubberized finish that’s drop-resistant and water-resistant. It’s also small enough to fit in your pocket.
This power bank is produced by myCharge, which is a US-based manufacturer. From their headquarters in Michigan, they produce a wide array of portable power banks, as well as other electronics.
The AdventurePlus is actually a whole series of rugged power banks produced by myCharge, which come in various other capacities: 3350mAh, 10500mAh, 20000mAh. So you can get the one the fits your needs the most.
Charging Technology
This particular myCharge AdventurePlus Portable Charger has a total battery capacity of 6,700 mAh. This is relatively small for a power bank, but it’s mostly due to the small size and the weatherproofing, drop-resistant features. You’ve got to pick your battles, and in this case, myCharge has chosen to go with small, lightweight, and durable instead of high-capacity. That said, 6,700mAh is still enough to charge most cell phones twice, or even to recharge an iPad to 90 percent. It also supports pass-through charging, so you can use a single power outlet to charge your power bank and your cell phone simultaneously.
The power bank includes a pair of USB ports, so it can be used to recharge 2 different devices simultaneously. Both ports can supply up to 5 volts, which allows for quick charging on compatible devices. The AdventurePlus charges via USB Type-C, and includes a charging cable. Because there’s no cable built into the unit, there’s no open-ended cord that can end up exposed and get damaged. Plug it into a standalone USB port, or use an AC adapter to charge your power bank from your wall outlet.
Portability
Portability is where the AdventurePlus really shines. It measures only 4.4 inches high, 2.6 inches wide, and 1 inch thick. This is small enough to carry in almost any pocket, and it can be slipped into a backpack or laptop bag with ease. It also weighs only 6.9 ounces or less than half a pound. You’ll barely even feel it while you’re carrying it. It’s also safe for travel. The total charge of 6,700mAh and a maximum voltage of 3.7 volts works out to a total power of 24.79 watts/hours. The TSA has set a maximum of 100 watts/hours for carry-on baggage, so you won’t run into any problems taking the Adventureplus through airport security.
The AdventurePlus also has a built-in carabiner ring and includes a carabineer. This allows for easy transport, even when you want to use it on the go. Clip it onto your belt, plug it into your phone, and you can enjoy your hike while you’re charging your phone.
Look and Feel
The myCharge AdventurePlus has an attractive, two-tone look with a black front and back, and rubberized, orange sides. On the front of the case, you’ll find grey myCharge and AdventurePlus logos that add a small accent.
Unlike many power banks, there’s a rubberized power button on one of the sides. Make sure to press this button before you plug your devices in. Otherwise, the AdventurePlus won’t deliver any power. This helps to eliminate dead circuits, and slightly reduces “vampire power”, improving the AdventurePlus’ storage time. Underneath the power button, you’ll see a row of four white LED lights. These illuminate only when the AdventurePlus is powered on, and indicate the battery’s total charge level.
Above the power button, on the top corner, there’s a small orange ring where the carabiner is attached. The carabineer itself is black, matching the front and back of the case.
Durability & Build Quality
There are two features that stood out to us when looking at the AdventurePlus’ durability. The first was the rubberized finish. No, it’s not constructed from anodized aluminum. Underneath the finish, there’s ABS plastic. But the rubberized finish is exceptionally thick and soft, which makes the AdventurePlus exceptionally durable against drops, bumps, bangs, and scrapes.
It’s also splash-resistant. While myCharge doesn’t supply an IPX rating, it’s sufficient to stay protected from the rain. Just don’t take it in the shower or immerse it in water, and it will be just fine.

Pros
Exceptionally rugged and durable
Supports pass-through charging and quick charging
Compact, portable design
Charges quickly via USB Type-C

Cons
Realtively small capcity
Final Thoughts
So, what did we think of the myCharge AdventurePlus? Here’s a quick summary: Depending on what you’re looking for, the myCharge AdventurePlus can be an excellent choice. The 6,700mAh capacity isn’t that large, but if you’re looking for something with more juice, you can check out the larger power banks from the same MyChare series: 10500mAh and 20000mAh.
That said, the larger capacity of those power banks requires more weight and volume. The AdventurePlus 6700, by contrast, is small and light enough to carry in your pocket. Not only that, but it’s exceptionally durable, which makes it a great choice for outdoor use, even during athletic activities. The carabineer attachment is also a nice touch, so you can carry it outside of your clothes and use it while you’re moving.
