MAXOAK 50000mAh Power Bank for Laptops Review
The MAXOAK 50000mAh Power Bank for laptops is manufactured by MAXOAK, whose main focus is on all-in-one power storage products. Although it is advertised to be used especially with laptops, it also works on other USB-powered devices. If you are looking for a durable and high-quality power bank for extending the battery of your laptop, The MAXOAK 50000mAh Power Bank might be your lifesaver.
The MAXOAK 50000mAh Power Bank has a monster capacity; certainly one of the biggest in the market. Charging tests indicate that it outputs 10% less of its capacity due to conversion losses, so its real capacity is around 45550mAh/168.5Wh. It’s still a monster capacity that can last several days depending on the use you give to it.
When it comes to output for laptops, this power bank features one DC 20V/3A output, and it comes with 14 kinds of DC connector for almost 95% Laptops with a Max input of 130W. Thus, it usually charges laptops at least two times for a total of about 7+ hours, and it is compatible with most renowned laptop brands on the market such as Dell, HP, Lenovo, Surface pro-Sony Samsung, Acer, and Toshiba, to name a few. There’s also one DC 12V/2.5A output, which can be used to power monitors, TVs, projectors, and other 12V devices.
Unfortunately, it can’t charge the following laptop models:
- Lenovo Yoga 3 14.
- Yoga 900(20V 3.21A).
- Yoga 3 11 13 milx 4 700s(20V/2A).
- Dell XPS 12 (Type C).
- Other USB Type-C laptops.
An important thing to consider is that you need to know the specifications of your laptop battery to connect it to the right output. This way, you won’t supply more power than the one it can handle, or by contrast, provide less power than it needs to charge properly.
The MAXOAK 50000mAh Power Bank for laptops can also charge smartphones and other USB-powered devices. It comes with 4 USB A Output ports, of which 2 of them have a 5V/2.1A rating, while the other 2 ports have a slower 5V/1A rating. Sadly, it does not support fast charging technology, nor does it come with a USB Type-C port. That said, you can charge 5 devices at the same time, with 4 of them being USB charging devices and 1 DC Output for a laptop.
Although it does not support Qualcomm Quick Charge, it is able to charge QC compatible smartphones near their maximum speed through the 5V/2.1A ports, which should also be the top choice for powering bigger USB devices like iPads Pro and other high-capacity tablets.
It has enough capacity to power the Samsung Galaxy S10 a bit more than 13 times and the iPhone 11 up to 14.6 times. As for tablets, you can expect the iPad Mini 5 to get from 8 to 9 full charges, and it can recharge the 9720mAh battery of the iPad 12-inch (third-generation)a bit more than 4.5 times.
It will take from 6 to 8 hours to fully recharge through the 16.8V/2.5A DC input port, which is not that long considering how much power it can store. It can also be recharged through an AC Wallout/Car, but sadly, it does not come with the DC to AC power inverter needed, so you need to buy one.
On a positive note, you can charge your laptop at the same time it’s recharging because it supports passthrough charging. This means you don’t have to wait until it’s full to be able to use it again, but it will take longer to recharge. Besides, it turns off automatically in 30 seconds if there’s no device connected, which is a great feature as it ensures that power is not wasted.
At first glance, the MAXOAK 50000mAh Power Bank seems much bigger than other power banks. It measures 8.1 inches in length, 5.3 in width, and 1.3 inches in thickness, and its total weight is 44.3 ounces or 2.76 pounds.
With such capacity, the MAXOAK 50000mAh Power Bank is not a traditional power bank; it can even be considered a small generator, so it makes total sense that it turned out to be this size. For such reason, it’s best to simply put it in a laptop bag, briefcase, or backpack; it’ll be easier and comfortable to take it on a road trip, for camping, and even going to a café or the library.
However, if you are planning on traveling on a flight, you need to be aware of the fact that the capacity of the MAXOAK 50000mAh Power Bank is 185Wh, which exceeds the 100Wh limit set by the TSA by almost two times, so you can’t take it. The worst part of it is that you can’t even request airline approval, as any battery above 160Wh is strictly forbidden on a plane.
Look and feel
Although the MAXOAK 50000mAh Power Bank is almost the size of a brick, its overall look is simple but stylish, and it comes exclusively in a gunmetal color. Its casing is made of what it feels like a premium metal with a sparkling dark gray finish on the top and bottom, while the front and back are made of black glossy plastic. There is a black plastic/rubber stripe on each side, with the name of the brand and technical specifications (in white font) appearing on the left side.
Besides, the design is functional given that all functional components are on a single side (the front), which means that you don’t have to worry about activating buttons that are on the side or having cables dangling or tangled. In this sense, on the front of the unit, there are the 4 USB charging ports aligned in two rows, the 2 DC Output ports (one next to the other), the power button, the 4 white LED battery capacity indicator, and finally, the Input port. Every port comes with its respective technical specification label, which is great to avoid confusion.
The indicator has many functions. Firstly, it tells you an estimate of how much power is left and how much power is getting in charging status. Secondly, the first LED flashes to indicate a low voltage alarm, and lastly, all 4 LEDs flash when the charging cable is disconnected.
Durability & build quality
MAXOAK heavily focuses on providing the highest quality, safety, reliability, and performance. Therefore, the MAXOAK 50000mAh Power Bank is well-constructed, comprising 50000mAH lithium-ion polymer battery cells certified with UL1642/UL2056/CE/FCC/ROHS/UN38.3/MSDS/PSE, premium chipset, a sturdy metal shell, and firm ports and power button.
Regarding the protection department, the MAXOAK power bank comes with a built-in 6 Tech Safety system that ensures safe use, including overload protection, over-current protection, low-current protection, short circuit protection, overheating protection, and surge protection. It is able to keep you and your devices safe during charging by automatically shutting the power bank off if it’s supplying too much power, which might lead to internal damage and even a fire.
Despite the good-looking design and nice materials, it feels a little slippery on some surfaces, so you need to be careful where you place it or it can accidentally fall and get damaged. The surface texture prevents smudges and fingerprints from appearing, but the metallic finish does not prevent scratches.
Besides, unlike so many other manufacturers, MAXOAK does make accessible user manuals, certificates of analysis and compliance, and safety information, which guarantee that you’re purchasing a top-notch and durable power bank. For example, it specifies how many cycles its battery cells can be recharged (over 1000 cycles), and that it’s backed by a 12-month hassle-free 100% satisfaction & replacement warranty in case of defectiveness.

Despite its big size a heavyweight, its high capacity of 185Wh/50000mAh provides a lot of battery power for your smartphones, tablets, and laptops. What’s even better is the wide range of compatibility it offers thanks to the 14 kinds of connectors that come included. In the end, every user has its own budget and needs, but here at Power Bank, we can assure you that the MAXOAK 50000mAh Power Bank is one of the most powerful and reliable power banks for laptops out there, and its $129.99 price totally worth it.
