Jackery Giant+ 12000 mAh Portable Charger Review
The Jackery Giant+ 12000 mAh Portable Charger boasts high-quality materials and components, all packed into a beautifully designed aluminum body. Whilst, not the lightest, or most powerful power bank at this price point – we feel the Jackery’s design, fit and finish more than making it up for this.
*Check out the Jackery brand page here.
Capacity & Charging speed
At 12000 mAh, the Jackery Giant+ 12000 mAh Portable Charger will comfortably handle most charging assignments thrown its way. It should be mentioned that there are some portable chargers which pack a higher power rating for similar money. But having said that, Jackery has opted to use premium Panasonic Grade A Lithium-ion battery cells. This is the very same battery brand used by Tesla, so Jackery is certainly in good company.
It comes with 2 USB ports rated at 1A and 2.1A respectively. This allows you to charge two devices simultaneously – albeit at different speeds. Another handy feature is the ability to charge the Jackery, whilst charging other devices at the same time. In testing, we found that it took 10 hours to fully charge the Jackery, which is certainly longer than we’d like. But in most cases, I charge my power bank overnight – so this is somewhat negated.
What really impressed us was how long this device holds its charge. After juicing it up fully, I was able to top up my phone and Kindle multiple times, and two weeks later this little guy was still going strong!
Look and feel
The Jackery Giant+ 12000 mAh Portable Charger is a great looking little unit. Its sleek aluminum body is slightly cool to the touch. The fit and finish feel reassuringly sturdy – Jackery has clearly paid attention to the little details. This even extends to the packaging – opening the box for the first time feels like an almost Apple-esque experience.
It is worth pointing out that the smooth aluminum body is quite slippery, we almost dropped it a couple of times. We should also note that the large power button recessed in the leading edge of the unit is unfortunately prone to be knocked, and switched on whilst in transit. Double-tapping the power button turns on the device’s flashlight. I have read reports of people opening their backpack to find the flashlight lit up!
Durability & Construction
The Jackery Giant+ 12000 mAh Portable Charger is backed up by a 24-month warranty which is always encouraging. Jackery has opted to use high-quality materials such as an aluminum body, and premium Panasonic batteries. This gives the unit a sturdy, solid feel – it feels like it is built to last. Although this does result in a net weight of 10.4 ounces.
There are isolated reports of defective units being shipped, but in most cases, we’ve heard of Jackery has offered great customer care and turned unhappy customers into happy ones.
Portability
The Jackery Giant+ 12000 mAh Portable Charger measures 3.1 x 0.8 x 4.3 inches. At a stretch, it will fit into your jean’s pocket, but its depth makes it a tight squeeze. However, it will happily slot into a purse or small backpack. At 10.4 ounces there are lighter units with similar mAh ratings to be had. But this is offset by the unit’s premium materials and solid construction.

Pros
Gorgeous design
Impressive battery life
High quality materials and components

Cons
No QuickCharge Input or Output feature
Bulky and heavy
Power button prone to accidental activation
Final Thoughts
We’ll be lying if we tell you that it’s the best in the market. However, the Jackery Giant+ 12000 mAh Portable Charger is a powerful device that has proven to be reliable thanks to its quality components. Overall, despite being a little bit bulky, it’s still perfect for trips and it comes quite handy in case of an emergency.
