Halo Bolt 58830 Review

The Halo Bolt 58830mWh Power Bank has a 14 voltage input and can charge two devices at the same time. The device is powerful enough to charge a MacBook Pro for an entire working day and comes with a handy AC wall plug to refresh its battery. This elegant and stylish power bank makes a great gift for drivers and ensures you’re always protected should your car’s battery die.

Unboxing video

Capacity & Charging speed

This power bank features a 2.4V charging output, making it suitable for Apple and Samsung users. The device also offers two USB ports, allowing you to charge multiple devices at the same time.

This portable power bank boasts 58830mWh and 15900mAh, which you can use the power bank to boost your laptop or phone. Fully charged, the device can charge a MacBook Pro for 7.9 hours, or an iPad Air for 8.6 hours. If your iPhone 7 runs out of battery at an inconvenient time, attach the Halo power bank to obtain 62.7 hours of talk time.

However, the USB-A ports don’t support any fast charging technology like Qualcomm Quick Charge. That means it only has a rating of 5V/2.4A, which isn’t too bad considering the power bank’s capabilities. It can charge most smartphones three to four times.

Alternatively, an appliance or laptop can be powered up via the 65W AC outlet. Its rating makes the unit powerful enough to jump-start a variety of small devices or vehicles, including cars, trucks, boats, or a lawnmower. For example, it can charge an SUV’s dead battery up to 96 times or a car 217 times, without having to recharge the unit.

The Halo Bolt 58830 also comes with a jump-starter rated at 500 AMPS, which is the minimum needed to jump-start cars, ATVs, and boats. However, it won’t be able to jump-start a completely dead battery because 500 AMPS is not sufficient enough.

Using the jump starter is easy. All you need to do is connect the jumper cable to the power bank. Then, connect the cable clamps to the battery. Red clamps go on the positive terminal and black clamps go on the negative terminal. Once that’s done, press the power button, wait for the light to turn solid green, and finally, start the car.

Halo designed this power bank with a Halo Smart Charge to quickly boost your device’s battery. Once depleted, it takes around nine hours to fully charge the unit via an AC wall plug. Though, your purchase includes a car charger so you can keep the Bolt powered as you use your vehicle. This way, it’s always fully charged and ready for an emergency.

The device doesn’t support pass-through technology, so you can’t charge the power bank simultaneously with your devices. But this is more so for a safety feature than an inconvenience.

Look and feel

The Halo Bolt 58830 charger is available in nine colors, including blue graphite, rose gold, grey, black and more, making it a great choice for a gift. The brand’s name is showcased on top of the power bank for a luxurious finish, and the curved edges make it less prone to scratching any surfaces during use.

This power bank’s design is user-friendly as all inputs are clearly labeled. The jump-starter port features a cover to prevent any dust or debris from entering the large ports when it’s not in use. We love that it features a floodlight, so you can clearly see if you’re stranded in a dark setting without needing a torch. Simply tap the flood-light button to switch this on and off.

The USB ports have a blue light, indicating that they have been turned on from the push of a button. Pressing the button again deactivates the charge.

Likewise, the AC outlet has a power button, which is beside the outlet itself. When it’s pressed, it will blink green twice before turning solid. Pressing the button again turns off the AC outlet.

The Halo Bolt 58830 also features a power light indicator presenting four bars, so you always know how much charge is remaining on the device. Operating the unit is easy too, thanks to the push-button that activates the charge. Next to this is the jump-starter button that also requires the simple push of a button.

Durability & Construction

The Halo Bolt 58830 Power Charger has rubber feet that prevent it from scratching paint or tables. This also raises the power bank from a surface to allow hot air to low, preventing the power bank from getting hot underneath during use. This power bank has many other safety features, such as an auto power-off, so you never need to power should you accidentally leave the unit running while not in use.

The device features over-voltage protection to prevent overloading your devices during use. It’s also equipped with reverse circuit protection, reverse current protection, and short circuit protection to remain long-lasting and prevent any malfunctions during use. For further peace of mind, Halo also offers a 90-day manufacturer’s warranty.

Aside from design, the power bank operates on lithium polymer batteries, which can be charged over 500 times and last for years. Lithium polymer batteries are more lightweight and are safer than lithium-ion cells, helping to reduce the power bank’s overall weight and improve overall safety.

Overall, the build quality of this power bank is pretty decent. The structure is comprised of plastic, which is well put together and holds up nicely when it’s in use.

The Halo Bolt Power Bank weighs nearly three pounds and measures 9.3 x 6.3 x 4.2 inches, making it a similar weight to an Apple MacBook Air. The unit measures 58.8Wh, so you can travel on-board with this unit.

Your purchase includes a carrying pouch to protect the device while your store it in your car or at home. Its 4.2-inch thickness enables you to store this device in your car’s glove compartment or in a drawer at home without taking up much space.

Final Thoughts

The Halo Bolt 58830 device is powerful enough to charge phones, laptops, cars, fans, cameras, TVs, and also to jump-start a wide range of cars and other motorized vehicles. Although power is its main strength, this unit is built with safety in mind, thanks to the timer circuit protection and auto switch-off to provide you with peace of mind. For these excellent features, the power bank is reasonably-priced and a must-have for vehicle owners.
