EasyAcc Monster PowerBank 20000mAh at a glance

The EasyAcc Monster PowerBank 20000mAh is an extremely impressive bit of kit. One feature that really sets it apart is its dual 4A input ports, which means you can charge the unit to 100% in 6 hours – a notable achievment for a 20000mAh unit! With slick looks and solid construction this is a portable charger well worth taking note of.

PROS
  • Charge up to 4 devices simultaneously
  • Super fast charge time thanks to dual 4A input ports
  • Detects the device you have plugged in and delivers appropriate output for fastest and safest charge times
CONS
  • Does not come with dual USB wall charger
  • Without dual USB wall charger the unit charges significantly slower
  • Power rating does not quite match manufacturer’s claims

Capacity & Charging speed

A powerful unit, the EasyAcc Monster PowerBank 20000mAh offers a very good bang for your buck. On its leading edge you will find dual 4A input ports, accompanied by 2 Micro USB to USB cables. A really noteworthy feature, this allows you to double the power going into the unit during charging. This results in a charging time of just 6 hours!

We should point out however that EasyAcc have neglected to include a dual USB wall charger. With only a single input you’ll be looking at a charge time of 10-11 hours.

If you purchase this unit we recommend getting an appropriate wall charger to maximise its efficiency. The iClever BoostCube 4.8A 24W Dual USB Travel Wall Charger would be a fine solution.

Another big tick for the EasyAcc is its 4 USB output ports which allows you to charge up to 4 devices simultaneously at a max speed of 2.4A. The 4 output ports would make this an ideal power bank for a family heading on holiday. Using smart technology, the unit automatically detects what kind of device you have plugged into it, and then delivers a suitable electric current. This is a great safety feature, and also means you’re delivering the fastest and safest current to your treasured electronic goodies.

One thing we need to address however is EasyAcc’s power claims. Tests show the actual power output at closer to 14000mAh. Whilst many manufacturers do seem to inflate their ratings, this does seem quite a discrepancy. Having said that, this unit still packs a lot of power.

Look and feel

The EasyAcc Monster PowerBank 20000mAh has a matte black body, accented by a coloured strip around the narrow edges of the unit (choose from an accent of orange, red or grey). Gently bevelled on the leading edges it has a nice, smooth touch and is easy to grip. 4 LED lights on the back side of the EasyAcc indicate how full its batteries are.

The unit is dominated at one end by its 4 USB outputs and a super-bright LED flashlight. Flashlights seem to be a bit of a trend in power banks of late – whilst not an entirely necessary feature, we can testify that this one is certainly plenty bright. We should note that the flashlight lens does protrude slightly from the body, which could be an issue if you dropped the power bank and got a direct hit.

The recessed power button has a nice tactile feel to it, and double tapping it will activate the flash light. The packaging for the unit is pretty plain, but then again its the power bank that really matters right? All in all its a very nice looking power bank, and looks like it means business. Particularly in the red or orange color variations.

Durability & Construction

The EasyAcc Monster PowerBank 20000mAh feels very well put together. The fit and finish seems excellent, we could not find any loose connections or other signs of poor manufacturing. It has a nice solid feel when you handle the unit, and feels like its built to last.

We have read of a few isolated cases of customers having problems with the unit 2-4 months after purchase. However the overwhelming majority of customers have rated the EasyAcc very highly. And given that the manufacturer offers an 18 month warranty, they appear to have a lot of confidence in their product.

Portability

The EasyAcc Monster PowerBank 20000mAh measures 7.2 x 4.6 x 1.3 inches so it is not exactly pocket-sized. But then again for this power rating you would not expect it to be so. Weighing in at 1 pound, it is not unsubstantial – but still totally useable when carried in a backpack, laptop bag, or purse.

We read about one avid Pokemon Go gamer who keeps the EasyAcc permanently in his backpack whilst he’s out and about. With a USB cable of decent length he is able to roam the streets with his cell phone permanently plugged in and receiving charge from the power bank.

We really can't find much to fault here. If charging time is important to you then the EasyAcc has a huge advantage over its competition thanks to its dual 4A input ports. And the ability to charge 4 devices simultaneously at a max speed of 2.4A is HUGE. A great looking unit and solidly built, the only caveat is the mAh ratings not quite matching EasyAcc's claims. Definitely a power bank to put on your short list!
