Best power banks for Samsung phones

As there are a plethora of different models out there, it’s no wonder that choosing the best power bank for Samsung phones can be confusing. As a matter of fact, Samsung is the largest smartphone producer in the world, holding over 30% market share. So new Samsung smartphone models are being launched on a constant basis, each with its own power requirements.

Some of the best power bank choices for Samsung smartphones are actual Samsung power banks. As you may already know, besides phones, Samsung also produces portable chargers, among many other phone accessories. So getting an official Samsung power bank will ensure the highest possible degree of compatibility among your phone and portable charger.

Furthermore, it’s worth mentioning that older Samsung phones were equipped with micro USB input ports, while newer models have USB type C input ports. Depending on the phone model you have, you should aim to purchase a power bank that has a similar input port so that you can charge both devices using the same cable and charger.

This is a great all-around power bank from Samsung. At 10000mAh it has the perfect capacity for charging a smartphone at least 2-3 times. In fact, 10000mAh is one of the most popular power bank capacities overall.

Maybe one of the most outstanding features of this power bank is the fact that it comes with a wireless charging feature. Providing up to 7.5W of power output, it can easily wirelessly charge Samsung phone models such as the Galaxy S20, Note10, Z Flip, etc. Furthermore, it can also be used to charge other Samsung wireless-compatible devices such as the Galaxy Watch and the Galaxy Buds.

In terms of ports, it features one bidirectional USB type C and one USB type A output port. The USB type C port is capable of providing as much as 15W of output power, enough to fast charge your Samsung phone. Furthermore, you can also charge two different devices simultaneously: one via the USB port and another via the wireless charging pad.

Another useful charging feature is its pass-through charging capability. This means you’ll be able to charge the Samsung power bank and have a different device connected to it simultaneously, that’s also charging. In this case, however, the unit can get warmer and the time for it to reach a full charge will be longer.

What we like about it
  • It has wireless charging
  • It features a USB type C port
  • Quick recharging time (3.5h)
  • It features pass-through charging
What we dislike about it
  • The wireless charging power output is quite small (7.5W)

Compared to the wireless power bank presented above, this unit has a very similar capacity. However it does not come with the wireless charging feature. If wireless charging is not that important for you, then you might want to consider this power bank instead.

For starters, it has a higher power output (25W vs 15W). Although not powerful enough for charging laptops, it can help you charge your phone faster or some other devices that require extra power, such as gaming consoles or drones. It also features the Qualcomm Quick Charge protocol which the wireless charging Samsung power bank does not. But on the other hand, it’s worth mentioning that the USB type C port has an input-only function and cannot be used for charging devices.

Another important aspect is that the 25W portable battery is noticeably lighter than the wireless charging one (11.2 oz vs 8 oz). This might be an important factor to take into consideration, especially if you plan on carrying the backup battery with you most of the time.

They’re both similar in price, charging time and ports. So overall, you should chose this one if you’re not big on wireless charging and you’d like to have a more powerful and lighter device.

What we like about it
  • 25W max power output
  • It features Qualcomm Quick Charge
What we dislike about it
  • The USB type C port is for input only. It cannot be used for charging

This 5100mAh power bank is the smallest battery pack produced by Samsung. It was designed for people on the go that need a maximum of 2 full charges on their phones as they go about their daily business. This is why Samsung created the carrying strap for extra flexibility. The power bank can easily be attached to a backpack, bike or purse. Its extreme light weight (5.3 oz / 150 g) and slim profile make it easy for it to be carried around just about anywhere.

In terms of ports, it features one USB type A and one USB type C, which can be used for both input and output. It does have a form of fast charging, which allows you to charge phones 1.5x faster than regular, although the fast charging technology is not one of the most popular ones such as Power Delivery or Qualcomm Quick Charge.

The Samsung Battery Pack also features pass-through charging, which is pretty uncommon for a power bank this size. However, it does not offer the ability to charge two devices at the same time.

All-in-all, this is a great device for highly mobile people that only need enough power to last throughout the day. Commuters, students, and sports enthusiasts would see the most benefit out of it. However, it’s not the device to take with you on long camping trips.

What we like about it
  • Slim and lightweight
  • It features a bidirectional USB type C port
  • Fast charging feature
  • Comes with pass-through charging
  • Affordable
What we dislike about it
